FAQ
Payment
What is your session fee?
My rate is $150 for a 50-minute therapy session. I have some, limited sliding scale spaces that are subject to need and availability.
What form of payment do you accept?
I accept all major credit cards, debit cards, Health Spending Accounts (HSA), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). You will be charged the day of your session. A credit card on file is required.
Insurance
Do you accept insurance?
Balanced Roots is a boutique style private-pay practice. This means that I work for you, not the insurance company. If you choose to use your insurance for counseling reimbursement, I am an “out of network” provider. This means at the time of your sessions I will charge the card on file for the full session fee. You will then receive, when appropriate, a Superbill or Statement for Reimbursement in your Client Portal once a month. You then submit this to the insurance company for reimbursement. The rates for reimbursement vary, which is why it is important to talk to your insurance company.
I choose to not bill insurance directly for several reasons, one being my belief that not everyone who seeks therapy needs a diagnosis.
Most insurance companies require a diagnosis to reimburse. However, I will talk about all of this with you and will not keep your diagnosis from you. I want you to have the most information before making the decision that makes the most sense for you.
How can I find out if my insurance covers your services?
You might want to ask your insurance company: Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services? Do I have an out-of-network deductible? What level of reimbursement do you provide? What do you consider a customary fee to be?
Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. In the event you do not give 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the full price of the session. If I am able to reschedule your appointment within the same week, there is no fee. A cancellation fee cannot be reimbursed by insurance.
